2016 Fellow Deborah Smith wins the Man Booker
'Well, we got it right', was definitely on the lips of those who judged six months earlier the 2016 Arts Foundation Literary Translation Award when they heard that Deborah Smith and South Korean author Han Kang had won the Man Booker Prize for 'The Vegetarian'. This is the first year that the prize has been split between the author and translator equally. 'We are delighted to hear of Deborah's success. With an exciting wish list of projects to work on these two awards in 2016 will support her well into the future and I very much look forward to what that will bring' Shelley Warren, Director of the AF.
