Artforms for the 2019 Fellowships Announced

  • 2019 sees a return to five different categories being awarded. They are;

    Visual Arts
    supported by the Yoma Sasburg Estate
    Bringing sculpture, painting, live performance art, installation, printmaking, photography and artists film and video into one, the AF is delighted to announce a new annual award for the Visual Arts.

    Experimental Architecture
    A new category for the Foundation, nominations will be sought from designers, artists and architects who are pushing the boundaries of how we explore, experience and create space. This category aims to highlight experimental practices that explore radical constructions that challenge our conception of space as an interface.

    Street Dance
    Mirroring the success of productions such as 'Hamilton' the Foundation is pleased to be awarding a Fellowship for Street Dance incorporating global dance crossovers, hip-hop and hip hop dance theatre.

    Poetry
    We can all agree - poetry is going through a 'boom' time with recent sales figures topping any previous statistics in the UK. Some have attributed this to a new generation of innovative poets and also to its ability to find new followers through using social media and video. Exciting times. Watch this space!

    Designer-Makers
    supported by the Clothworkers' Company
    Looking at craftspeople and designers who make their own work for the market, this award represents the first of three awards in the Materials Evolution Series . Social Design and Materials Innovation will feature in year two and three.

    Nominations are secured from experts in each area. The shortlist will be announced in October along with various public events to showcase the shortlist in some categories.
