Gregory Batsleer at Festival Voices: Session Ugly Duck

  • Festival Voices: Session Ugly Duck, London 25th November, 19.30pm.

Gregory Batsleer has recently co-founded vocal ensemble called Festival Voices, which has been set up to explore new ways of interpreting the great art of choral music and actively challenge some of the pre-existing perceptions as to what a choral concert is.

Ugly Duck is an evening of collaborative choral music from Festival Voices, featuring works by Arvo Pärt, Frank Martin and Henry Purcell.

Pärt’s Magnificat and The Woman with the Alabaster Box are illuminated by bespoke lighting design, transforming aural colours into stunning visuals.
Martin’s Five Songs of Ariel are embodied by Paris-based mime artist Jason Ribes, who transforms the role of Shakespeare’s supernatural spirit into something rich and strange.
Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas is rescored with electronic music by producer and DJ Nico Bentley and the Pencil Collective.
