Khadija Raza is a British Pakistani theatre designer based in London. Her love for stories and all forms of visual arts led her to theatre. Khadija’s practice is rooted in collaboration, and a love for complex characters, connecting the forms of art, installations, and sculpture together. She is passionate about exploring ideas of culture, politics and belonging in her work, and the possibility of theatre as a means to bring about social change.
Her selected recent theatre credits include: Peanut butter and Blueberries at Kiln Theatre; The Secret Garden, Every Leaf a Hallelujah, Antigone at Regents Park Open Air Theatre; Untitled F*ck M*ss S**gon Play at Royal Exchange Theatre/Manchester International Festival/Headlong/Young Vic; Girl in the Machine, Sundown Kiki, The American Dream 2.0 at Young Vic; Augmented Told By an Idiot, Mixtape at Royal Exchange Theatre; The Flood at Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch; Julius Caesar at Shakespeare’s Globe/UK Tour; 10 Nights at Graeae/Tamasha Theatre/Bush Theatre.
As a Design Consultant Khadija worked on projects such as Dugsi Dayz with Side eYe Productions and Love Reign at the Young Vic, and was the Associate Designer for The Father and the Assassin at National Theatre and The King of Hell’s Palace at Hampstead Theatre.
Khadija graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, studying BA (Hons) Theatre Practice: Design for Stage. She was the recipient of the Linbury Prize in 2017 and won the Stage Debut Award for Best Designer, in 2018.
Khadija’s upcoming projects include, Blackbird Hour at the Bush Theatre, opening in February 2025 and costume design for the The Estate at The National Theatre, opening in July 2025.
