Highly productive Arts Foundation Futures Fellow – Holly Hendry will be showing new works both in the UK and France in the coming months.
Her piece at the new visitor centre the Weston at Yorkshire Sculpture Park is called The Dump is Full of Images, featuring sculptures that explore themes of decay, the body, and the use and re-use of materials.
Central to the exhibition, Slacker is Hendry’s first kinetic sculpture. The new commission is reminiscent of a newspaper printing press or conveyor system; its purpose is to continuously pull a synthetic skin-like band – a tapestry of embedded fragments and discarded objects – around a steel structure. Harriet Smith Hughes for This is Tomorrow said ‘It’s an exciting set of work, with intimate wit and serious ambition’.
