We are looking for a new Chair to join our Board of Trustees!
The Arts Foundation is a registered charity that supports individual artists and creatives in the UK, and since 1993 the Arts Foundation has given nearly £2m to artists across the spectrum of the Arts.
As the Arts foundation approaches its 30th anniversary in 2023, and our current Chair of the Board of Trustees, Howell James CBE comes to the end of his five-year term, we are seeking a dynamic Chair, and ardent supporter of artists and creatives in the UK to support our future ambitions and help drive the next phase of the charity’s development.
The Chair will be responsible for the governance of the charity and act as an advocate for the foundation, building on its legacy to strengthen and develop new relationships across the arts and culture sector and with other Trust and Foundations and wider partnerships and supporters.
It is an exciting time to join the charity, and the Chair will play a critical role in supporting the Director to determine future strategic objectives and ensure that the Arts Foundation continues to provide vital, and importantly, unconditional financial support for exceptional artists and creatives.
The Chair should have a demonstrable interest in art, creativity and culture, the ability to support income generation and fundraising activities, and strong networks in areas of benefit to the organisation. The Chair will also have alignment with the values and mission of the Arts Foundation, to ensure it is truly a national charity serving the interests of artists across the UK.
We are looking for someone who is collaborative and forward-looking, with an empathetic style, and the ability to build consensus and dialogue. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are currently under-represented in the arts and culture sector and within the Trusts and Foundations landscape.
