Sława Harasymowicz

Fellow in 2008 for Illustration

Sława Harasymowicz is a Polish-born artist living and working in London and East Kent. MA graduate from the Royal College of Art, London (2006), Harasymowicz is currently a registered PhD candidate at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design London working on Fine Art research by practice.

Sława references public archives, collections and the family album, creating ‘image sets’ of drawings, silkscreen prints, photographic images as fragmented, non-linear narratives and site-responsive interventions. Deriving from the obscure and uncanny, her work questions and tests new representations of collective history, archive, personal memory and autobiography.
Sława has exhibited in the UK and internationally. She is a winner of the V&A Illustration Awards (2010) and her recent artistic projects have been awarded The Arts Council England funding (2016) as well as artistic scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2016).

Her published projects have included Wolf Man, a graphic novel based on Sigmund Freud’s case study of Sergei Pankejeff published by Self Made Hero (London, 2012). She followed this publication with a solo exhibition at the Freud Museum, London (2012), in which she expanded and reinterpreted the case study as an installation (located in Sigmund Freud’s bedroom) proposing a visual exploration of psychoanalytic methods as much as Pankejeff’s story itself.
