Conor Mitchell

Conor is a composer, librettist and theatre-maker. He also directs stage works for The Belfast Ensemble, where he is artistic director. His opera Abomination (Best Opera Production – 23rd Irish Times Theatre Awards) was performed by The Belfast Ensemble at the Lyric Theatre as part of Outburst Queer Arts Festival.

Other work includes; The Snow Queen (Sherman Cymru), Kiss Me, Kate (Northern Ireland Opera), The Habsburg Tragedies (The Belfast Ensemble), Cultural Olympiad opera Our Day (Northern Ireland Opera), children’s opera The Musician (national tour), choral work Shadowtime (Royal Festival Hall), Requiem for the Disappeared (Spark Opera), sinfonietta 20: Ceasefire, and his Cabaret Songs in celebration of Britten’s 100th birthday (Aldeburgh Music).

Awards include Best Score (New York Musical Theatre Festival), the Stiles + Drewe Song Writers Award and two Fringe Firsts.
