Lawrence Parent’s design practice is rooted in an innovative exploration of the intersection between urban environments, nature, and sustainability. His work challenges conventional notions of design and public space by developing complex, rough, and textured surfaces and objects that support and integrate living organisms directly into built structures, creating symbiotic relationships between the natural and urban worlds.
Since graduating with a degree in Product Design from the University of Brighton in 2020 Lawrence has used a modular, adaptable and experimental approach to design often exploring computational design and digital fabrication as well as handcraft techniques used in ceramics and concrete casting. His practice aims to move beyond aesthetics to explore eco-friendly materials and design methods that reduce the ecological footprint of his works.
Committed to addressing the pressing environmental issues of biodiversity loss and the disconnection between people and nature in urban spaces, Lawrence is currently focused on projects that create flexible, plant-friendly structures that can be seamlessly incorporated into the home as well as urban settings. A blend of art, design, and environmental activism, his work seeks to inspire a cultural shift towards sustainable living.
