Like many before him Sean Buckley began his writing career in theatre. Paines Plough picked up on his talent and produced his plays God Wear, Between Wolf and Dog and lastly Smithereens which involved writing a short piece for each of the seven young aspiring directors drawn from the local community in Southwark.
A chance to get a place on Channel 4’s prestigious Coming Up scheme for writers new to the medium resulted in his first film Honest John being realised and it was broadcast on Channel 4 in 2009. This link led to further commissions writing multiple episodes for E4 drama Skins. His first full-length screenplay Competition is set in the world of young female gymnasts creating a dark fairytale through its setting both inside and out of the training camp.
