Our 2020 AFFAs took place at the ICA London on January 27 with a packed house, and awards were presented in this year’s choice of five creative fields; Comics, Visual Arts, Experimental Music, Social Innovation in Materials Design and Experimental Short Film.
It was our pleasure to have film director Asif Kapadia presenting the awards, having won himself an Arts Foundation Fellowship in Film Directing some 20 years ago! He has gone on to great success with Amy (2015), Diego Maradona (2019) and Senna (2010) to his credit as well as receiving an Oscar and three BAFTAs en route!
The finalists were nominated by both practitioners and experts involved in their art form, and wine flowed as the finalists each received £1,000 with one artist in each artform receiving the £10,000 fellowship.
Congratulations to all our runners up and to our 2020 Fellows Klein, Onyeka Igwe, Esther McManus, Bethany Williams and Ima-Abasi Okon!!
With grateful thanks to the Yoma Sasburg Estate, The Clothworkers’ Company and The David Collins Foundation for your support.
