For 2020 we see the AFFAs track five exciting areas of the Arts – from those experimenting in film and music to focusing in on material innovators with new ideas that address our social needs – from working conditions and education to community development, health and climate change. 2020 sees ‘Comics’ take its rightful name place on the awards table along with Visual Arts bringing its usual formidable mix of applicants.

Artists, who will be a minimum of three years out of education with a track record, are nominated by both practitioners and experts involved in the art form. The finalists each receive £1,000 with one artist in each artform receiving the £10,000 fellowship.
