Emily Baker

Fellow in 2009 for Songwriting

In 2009, Annie Lennox presented Emily with The Arts Foundation Fellowship in Songwriting which helped set the tone towards Emily writing the body of work contained within House of Cards. She later went on to release a more introspective songwriting project, All At Sea. She’s toured with Chris Difford, Amy Wadge and Jon Allen; she has supported a rather eclectic range of artists – from Peter Doherty, Jesca Hoop, Beth Rowley, Frank Turner and Gabriella Cilmi. As well as headlining London Songwriters Week she’s played a range of UK & European festivals including The Secret Garden Party and The Great Escape.
In 2011 Emily travelled to Memphis to showcase at The Folk Alliance Festival and as a result, toured the US in March 2012.

In 2013, Emily began her PhD at the University of Liverpool where she is currently writing a thesis on the aesthetic of age in the voice in popular music.
